Why on earth would I be dishonest of a support thread? and speaking of dishonest look at your avatar, now that guy looks dishonest.

Don't get me wrong darkstar..I'm all for you..BUT
I'm just weary about the best buy part in your 1st post. and I do hope they gave you what you may/not be entitled to. In the end you need not prove anything to me or anyone else here. it's up to you, and 'the company'.

He bought his stuff in the wrong store thinking it would qualify for the BMP. It does not. Based on the information given, he does not qualify. Anet hasn't done him anything wrong at all.
For the last time, Best Buy has NOTHING at all to do with his post.

Suggestion to the OP: Remove all references to Best Buy, as people obviously have reading comprehension problems.

OP's Problem: He spent over $29.99 at PlayNC on non- Guild Wars items (CoH and Tabula Rasa trial), thinking they would count.

wrong.

this is to promote the store and give a small bonus to those who met the requirements supporting said store.

and there are many people who could have gotten it for over 11 dollars less including sales tax at the discount shop.

they chose to pay a stiff premium just to qualify at the online retail price as i have all the extra slots i want.

the difference of over 11 dollars is the *COST* of the free BMP

they are not going to slap down the store supporters for a bit of pocket change more.

if you wanted the BMP and gambeled that greedy NCsoft would offer it cheap later for the last bit of cash i think you lost this one.

they will be setting a precident

1. buy it or lose it

or

2. dont buy it you can get it cheap later.

sales on this would be pocket change to NCsoft.

want to bet which wat they go?

There is NO comprehension problems Because when someone says:

'I had to buy my stuff at best buy because of bank probs' means what it means. easy right?

it's Funny how those 'bank problems' went away though for him enough to make other purchases. with that said it's none of my business what 'bank problems' he was having, it just....looks...blahhh..who cares.

Well, I agree the whole Best Buy incident doesn't help his post at all.

That's why I recommended he edit it out.

Still, it has nothing to do with the crux of the matter: Do puchases from NCSoft count or not? If not, shouldn't they?

Yes, I posted that on the first page!

I also posted this:

In my opinion, that's misleading, because that's the only place it says it has to be a "qualifying" GW product.

In any case, it's a bad policy decision by NCSoft, whom since they own Anet, are ultimately responsible for sales. Why wouldn't they want GW players to buy other NCSoft products? To me, that's exactly what the PlayNC store is for!

after reading the OP again i think i may have found yhe problem.

if wrong please shoot this trial balloon down.........here goes

Quote:
OP
Well I confermed by product and keys and linked it to my Play NC account which had City of Heroes the 29$ double pack and the the Pre-Order for Tabula Rasa hooked to it, so yeah I have the total there so I breathed a sign of relief.
is it possible that the tally for the GW BMP did not count items purchased before a GW account was linked?

also this from the OP

Quote:
If I would have known it was not I would have bought a few extra character slots and the GOTY edition upgrade before October ousted.
it was posted all over how to check iy you have the qualifying balance by checking your account for the amount spent so far

ALSO THIS

i may have missed reading it but i dont see a support ticket response on this so has he even submitted a support ticket before coming here?

Hey thanks everyone, I have indeed submited a Customer Service report and am trying to get this resolved with them also.

Also for your information about me: I have no reason to lie here, I'd gain nothing. I bought it at Best Buys because the online store wasn't working because I wanted Guild Wars. I was relying upon my CoH buy to qualify me.

Why also didn't I buy online? I like having Pressed Discs, The ones with the manuals, the in box content and other stuff for the same price as the codes.

In fact, this thread helped my write up my report by Removing a large amount of questionables such as rather or not it was my unawareness.

Belive it or not I didn't know what to write before hand so I wanted user feedback before I went whining to the company. I'd look pretty bad if I went forward asking a question they already answered.

I will post a log of the back and forth when its all done.

Good luck with the support ticket.. I tried the same having thought I qualified with the purchases through the Play NC store but got no luck.. I've got all the GW stuff I want so couldn't see any more purchases to make.. so I bought from the PlayNC store to take me over the prescribed limit.. No BP turned up so I logged it with them.. after they'd miss-quoted their own website to me a couple of times (where they inserted 'buy any Guild Wars product from the PlayNC store').. and I repeatedly stated their terms for the promotion were at best miss-leading they basically turned round and said it was a Anet promotion not a PlayNC one so I should have realised that not all purchases from the PlayNC store qualified..

Poor promotion, badly implimented followed up with a complete failure in customer support afterwards (at the very least I should have been given the opportunity to make some kind of purchase I didn't need in order to qualify!).. Not at all impressed.. but what did I expect? Guild Wars is a business after all...

EDIT:
after they told me I didn't qualify in their first response.. here's my reply:

Hi there..

well I've got to say I'm disappointed in your response.. I find the text of the statements on the website ambiguous at best.. for example:

'Spend a total of 26€ ($29/£17) or more in the Guild Wars In-Game Store or purchase and activate any product worth 26€ ($29/£17) through the PlayNC online store, between 20:00 BST July 5, 2007 and 19:00 BST October 31, 2007.'

'Activate ANY product worth £17 from the PlayNC store..' Well.. according to my account I've spent over £17 in the PlayNC store during the qualifying period.. Where does it state it has to be a Guild Wars product above?

'Can I qualify for the Bonus Mission Pack through purchases in the PlayNC Store?

Yes, you can. All purchases made through either the Guild Wars In-Game Store or the PlayNC Store from 20:00 BST, 5 July 2007 through 19:00 BST on 31 October 2007 are added together. Once you meet the required amount, the bonus missions will be yours and you’ll get access once the missions go live in November. '

'ALL purchases...' Where does this say Guild Wars only purchases? The FAQs then go on to say..

How can I see if I’ve qualified for the Bonus Mission Pack?

Check your account through the PlayNC Interface using the following steps: Go to www.plaync.com, click Account and enter your PlayNC account name and password. Click Manage and then Billing Summary to see what you have spent over the last six months.

Where do it say above that my purchases have to be Guild Wars products?

As previously stated I feel disappointed and let down by this promotion (on top of the '1000 mini-pet give away farce).. I have attempted to abide by the promotion by making purchases through the PlayNC store (as I already have all three GW campaigns, the expansion and the 1 million edition upgrade I couldn't see what else there was to buy.. unless I was to buy PVP editions I wouldn't play or character slots I didn't need) .. only to find out through unofficial sources (trawling through forums!) that my purchases may not be valid.

I would have NOT made the purchases I did had the statements on qualification been clear and indeed MAY have purchased extra Guild Wars products I did not require in order to qualify (so you'd have got your pound of playing flesh).. However the whole thing has left a sour taste in the mouth.

Not that it got my anywhere of course!!

Lol! - What the hell are you saying. Take a pill!

The promotion on the GW website says "For a limited time, when you spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Guild Wars In-Game Store or through the PlayNC Store, you will get a Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack for free!"

It does not say "This is the only way you'll ever be able to get the BMP". There is nothing to suggest that it won't be available in the online store..
Just like if McDonalds says "Buy a Big Mac and get free fries" - it doesn't mean you can't buy the fries without the BM.

When I purchased EoN (on-line), it would have cost me the exact same amount at the local retailers, so, in my case at least, I will get the BMP for "free".

Btw, back to the OP's topic - I do agree that the wording on the website is misleading. It can be interpreted to mean any purchase through the PlayNC Store. The most reasonable thing for them to do would be to simply allow those purchases to qualify, although that may require a bit of "paperwork". Suck it up.

Can someone sum that last post right after mine?

He basicly just said nothing informative or useful at all to the thread? I have a good feeling about how this will turn.

One man says somthing, it can be missed. But a 'HELL' of alot more people then me have spoken about this and addressed this, therefor I am one part of a more awsome whole that will solve this difficulty which has so many people riled up in the first place.

FYI, I entered the mini pet thing, and its a drawing, not "You do this and this 'will' happen."

Quaker you are for sure an American. I salute you.

are you referring to armchair.pimp's post?

He's backing you up. He had the same problem you did.

The fact that support is misquoting Anet's own information tells me something is up.

I suspect there are more people like you. Keep calling support, and keep this thread going.

Since NCSoft owns Anet, I really don't see how it makes a lick of difference HOW they make their $29, as long as they make it!

Okay, I've been back and forthing with Customer Service, I havn't got a reply from them in over 8 hours however sense I got my case transfered to a Sinior Support Staff Member. I think they are possibly trying too attemt one of two things.

1 (Good): They are trying to come up with some resolution then contact me.
2 (Bad): They are leaving me alone hoping I will go away.

So I have my fingers crossed. Hope its one, because if it is and it is taking this long then mayhaps, just mayhaps, some other people will also get your problem resolved...

Is that clear enough for you?

Actualy in this BMP case, and they show no other signs of doing other wise so that makes it:

The Fries are only available with the Purchace of a Big Mac between these days, at this store, and the fries will never never 'as far as you know' be available again to you.

Still working on it, seem to be getting the blow off, but I won't shut my problem thread untell I get an answer, and I will post the content of the back and forth so that people can shorten there own help section questions.

I followed all of the instructions on the GW main site and spent over 29$ between the timeframe needed on the PlayNC store instructions HERE:

How to Qualify

Spend a total of $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Guild Wars In-Game Store or purchase and activate >>any<< product worth $29 USD (€26/£17) through the PlayNC online store, between Noon Pacific Time July 5, 2007 and 11:59 PM Pacific Time October 31, 2007.

You can spend the required amount all at once, or over time; your purchases will be tracked and once you meet the requirement, you will qualify to receive the Bonus Mission Pack!

So I should be qualified but I am not. Why Not? I have met all of the requirements there. So I kept looking to see if I could find more and I found this little quote.

"The Bonus Mission Pack will release in November. This promotion is non-transferable and is limited to one per account. The Bonus Pack will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion in the in-game store or the exact account on which a >>qualifying Guild Wars product<< is activated that has been purchased in the PlayNC store."

The only place is said that was on the support website which no one visits unless they have a problem, and I now have a problem.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this deceptive marketing? I met the requirements stated on the front page where there was no fine print saying only buying 'guild wars' products would work. I am sort of PO'd. I'll remain calm as there is no need for me to fly off the handle, but I would like this situation rectified in all due haste. False frontline advertising is Illegal and Immoral.

All right, heres the deal, I read Any, and your print did say it as I highlighted earlier, and therefor I was deceived by your marketing method there.

Now sorry I used all caps to indicate extreme anger, but I am rather angry that this deceptive documentation caused me to loose out on this offer.

In the first part of your line you should not have wrote 'any' indicating ALL PlayNC products. Contractualy that makes your second part saying only Guild Wars products apply means you have negated your own first half of said documentation.

I'll try selling you a deal. Buy ANY car from the Ford car lot.
{Later Documentation Segment.}
Only applies when buying a Ford Jeep.

Therefor Any in all cases is an outright fabrication. I know this situation will rectify soon, be it buy me buying these mission packs at a later date or whatever but I must advise you PLEASE look closer at your document as a whole and the context in which your consumers will be reading it.

I would normaly not have written this save for the fact I really care enough about the Guild Wars story as a whole to invest alot of money into it, and feel sore thinking that I missed a chapter due to 'grey' documentation.

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us in regards to the Bonus Mission Pack.

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide this item if the requirements were not met within the specified promotional time frame. This promotion went on from July 5, 2007 and 11:59pm Pacific Time October 31, 2007. The $29 amount had to be purchased within the 3 month time frame from the PlayNC Store or the Guild Wars Store in order to be eligible for the Bonus Mission Pack. If you would like to go into specifics regarding your eligibility, please reply back with the following information:

-- What first and last name did you use when you created the account?
-- What physical address did you use when you created the account?
-- What date of birth did you use when you created the account?
-- What are all the retail access keys currently registered to your Guild Wars game account? (Please include the retail access keys from each campaign.)
-- What is the e-mail address currently associated with your Guild Wars game account? (If you are unsure, please provide all possible e-mail addresses.)

Thanks!

Hello Raymond,

Thank you for your update.

Unfortunately, in order to be eligible for the Bonus Mission Pack Promotion, you will need to have made Guild Wars purchases adding up to $29 or more from the Guild Wars Official Store online, or from the PlayNC Store online. Purchases from retailers do not count towards this promotion, nor do purchases of other products because this is a Guild Wars promotion and the item purchased must be applied to the Guild Wars account to be eligible. We apologize for any confusion you may have had regarding this issue.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Guild Wars Account Support

Yeah, I have a question, What the hell?

You are avoiding the issue, I KNOW I didn't get it, but what I don't get is what is with this constant blow off of anyone who got deceaved by your front page.

I will let you know this, it is not right what you are doing blowing people off as such.

I KNOW that I am not eligable for it, but I did meet your front pages requirements and only found the small print after the 31st.

I am NOT however asking rather or not I qualified because I havn't what I am asking is, and I will write it in caps, I am not screaming at you either this is just to make the question stand out more then the rest of this.

WHAT WAS WITH THE DECEPTIVE FRONT PAGE AND THE LACK OF MAKE UP FOR YOUR MISTAKE WHICH DISQUALIFIED OVER 200 PEOPLE ALL AROUND BECAUSE THEY MISREAD YOUR DECEPTIVE JARGON.

Also I get what you said I really do, but in your 'Guild Wars' promotion, your front page said clearly "Any PlayNC" And sense your company is owned by PlayNC it should still qualify. Address the issue.

What are you people going too do to make amends to the people who where wronged by your shifty and deceptive front page?

And what was with taking down the PvP packs while the promotion was on also? you left litteraly nothing to buy in the in game store also.

Answer these questions thoughtfully please, as I will only carry them onwards tell I get a clear deffinate answer, Alot of people want answers and alot of people should get them.

Summed Up:
1: You wrote a deceptive page.
2: Alot of people including me lost out because of it.
3: You took down anything worth buying in the online store worth 29$ and alot of us already had all the campaigns.
4: What are you going to do to make amends to your alienated players?

Raymond,

Your support ticket has been escalated to me as a supervisor for the PlayNC & Guild Wars Account Support Team. Because the Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack promotion was a promotion for Guild Wars specifically, we felt the advertisement did not need to specify that the items purchased had to be Guild Wars related, as it was an implied requirement. However, I do understand your perspective of the wording, and apologize for any frustration or inconvenience it may have caused. I assure you we will do our best to be more specific in future promotional advertisements and notifications.

If you were unable to purchase one of the Item or PvP Edition Packs before they were removed from the in-game store and did not need to purchase any of the campaigns or the Eye of the North expansion, the option to purchase additional character slots in order to qualify for the promotion was still available. I apologize if the removal of the Item & PvP Edition Packs was inconvenient for your needs, but the decision to do so was made with the intention of providing new and better item, skill and PvP packs in the near future.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any form of compensation for this issue. I sincerely apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this may cause, but this is our final decision regarding that request.

Kind Regards,
Beth - PlayNC & Guild Wars Account Support

I don't know what else to do, I have 70 some hours left to respond, but I'm stumped idea wise on how to get them to see that the problem is more global then just me feeling jipped.

I guess at least the staff are having issues and people are getting there problems told to the top I guess.

Any advice would be hot.
